Those stars are simply for sale. Although you do need to be somewhat of a celebrity to qualify, all you need is a sponsor (such as a studio or a fan club) to pay the $25,000 fee. That's how Ryan Seacrest got a star years ago, because his fan club raised enough money.

I did get recognized quite a bit for a Huck Finn's Warehouse commercial I appeared in ("HUMONGORAMA!"). But Mike Sussman is the real movie star in our midst!
