Getting the point across

Daily Nightly: A grim detail in Port Lavaca
NBC's Ron Blome reports on the Daily Nightly that Mayor Alan Tharling of Port Lavaca, Texas is going to extremes to encourage people in the path of Hurricane Rita to evacuate.

Tharling says that the 1,000 or so die-hards who refuse to evacuate are being given permanent markers and asked to write their Social Security number, next of kin and a phone number on their arm or across their abdomen — so that returning officials can identify their bodies.

  1. Maybe mayor Tharling should have this sponsored by Sharpie... I can see how he wants these people to evacuate, I wonder if it is out of their safety or the fear of looting such as in New Orleans.

But if his pessimistic views (and probably some realistic) comes true and these people are killed, it would make the recovery effort a whole lot easier for law enforcement, medical personnel.

I wonder what gas will be tomorrow.

  2. Gas THERE means gas HERE.

It's a real problem when the petrol price shoots up, causing a huge chain reactions. Hard time for those family with kids!

Perhaps Katrina and Rita would shed some light on environmental issues, that we are, by killing the nature, killing ourself as well.

Wish they all luck then :)

American Indians sure thought that... maybe they weren't so crazy afterall. As the editorial in The Matrix said ... the human race is nothing more than a virus... killing our host for our own survival, except we have no where to go (yet) when the Earth dries up.

On happier notes, the gas price did NOT go up in last 6 hours, but the pumps sure were busy.

  4. It's about time someone got down to business with the diehards. If they call 911 after the storm, I hope they tell them "Sorry, you had your chance" and hang up on them. Don't get me wrong...I feel very bad for the people who have no means to get out. But for the people who can get out, but don't...well, I don't feel for them...they had plenty of warning!!
